Volunteer Job Description: Ward 2 City Council Campaign
Position Title: Campaign Volunteer
Location: Ward 2, Calgary
Time Commitment: Flexible, 2-10 hours per week (varies by role and availability)
Reports To: Campaign Manager or Volunteer Coordinator
Dates: June 16 – 30. Occasionally through the summer. September 1 – October 20, 2025
John Garden, P.Eng is nominated for Ward 2 City Council and his campaign is dedicated to building a stronger Ward 2 through transparent leadership, financial accountability and sustainable growth and safety. We’re seeking passionate volunteers to join our team and help make a positive impact in Ward 2.
Role Overview:
Volunteers are the heart of our campaign! As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in connecting with voters, spreading our message and supporting campaign activities. Whether you’re canvassing neighborhoods, making phone calls, or helping with events, your efforts will help shape the future of Ward 2.
Responsibilities (based on your interests and skills):
- Canvassing: Engage with residents door-to-door to share John Garden’s vision and encourage voter turnout.
- Phone Banking: Contact voters to discuss the campaign, answer questions, and promote voter engagement.
- Event Support: Assist with organizing and staffing campaign events, such as meet-and-greets, rallies, or fundraisers.
- Data Entry: Help maintain accurate voter and volunteer databases to support campaign outreach efforts.
- Social Media & Outreach: Promote the campaign online by sharing content, engaging with followers, and amplifying our message.
- Sign Placement: Distribute and install campaign signs in strategic locations (with permission).
- Community Engagement: Represent the campaign at local events, fairs, or meetings to build support.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm John Garden’s vision and commitment to Ward 2’s future.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- No prior campaign experience required—training will be provided!
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to follow campaign guidelines.
- Access to a phone or computer for certain tasks (optional, depending on role).

Ward 2
Ward 2 is a suburban area in the northwest quadrant of the city, encompassing a mix of established and newer communities. Ward 2 has a population of approximately 83,609 residents across over 32,000 homes, with about 70% being detached, single-family houses. The ward includes the following communities: Ambleton, Arbour Lake, Citadel, Evanston, Glacier Ridge, Hamptons, Hawkwood, Kincora, Nolan Hill, Ranchlands, Sage Hill, Sherwood, and Symons Valley Ranch. Notable for its family-friendly neighborhoods, Ward 2 features a blend of residential areas with access to parks, schools, and recreational facilities, making it a vibrant part of Calgary’s northwest.
